Paskong Pinoy (Filipino Christmas)

Misa De Gallo
Christmas is in the air... They said that Philippines celebrates the longest Christmas season because once Ber months has arrived we can already feel it by decorating our home, and making some wish list for the upcoming Christmas.

We are very unique in celebrating the birthday of our savior Jesus Christ. We use to have "Simbang Gabi"  that is going to church between 3am to 5am. Outside the church we can" see a lot of vendors selling "Puto Bumbong", "Bibingka" (form of rice cake and its totally delicious) with matching hot coffee or hot chocolate. Simbang Gabi starts in the 16th of December and ends in the 24th.

Parol from Pampanga

Parol is a Philippine Christmas lantern. Pampanga is considered as Parol capital of the country. In fact, in a year 2002 in San Fernando City, Pampanga was awarded as the origin of the largest Christmas lantern in the world. The idea of Parol is from the story of three wise men who look at  the brightest star in the sky as a guide for them to find the new born baby Jesus.

They said that once we have parol in our house, the spirit of Jesus is there, like the brightest star was found above the manger where he was born.

Noche Buena

Noche buena is a part of Christmas tradition of every Filipino. We use to prepare a lot of food like lechon, ham, pancit, leche flan and more. This is also the time for family reunion or family get together. Time for gift giving where in the kids totally enjoy.

Not all of us can afford to have this kind of prosperous celebration. But it doesn't mean that we cannot celebrate Christmas without this delicious foods, the important thing is, as long as the whole family is there, that is enough to celebrate Christmas.

Kids singing a Christmas Carol

Christmas here in the Philippines is definitely for kids. Actually this is the time where they are expecting to receive some gifts from their ninong and ninang, (God Parents). Their favorite activity during this season is to sing Christmas Carols in front of different houses and the tenants will give them something in return. They also believe that Santa exist but as we grow old, we know that Santa is just an imagination, just a symbol of Christmas.

No matter how we celebrate Christmas, in a manner of prosperous or simple way, the important thing is we show the true meaning of it. Christmas means love, sharing and forgiving. Christmas means happiness because this is the time where our Christ the savior was born. Have a blessed Christmas to everyone. Feel free to visit our country and experience the "Paskong Pinoy". "Maligayang Pasko sa lahat".

Ginebra Old School: Pag Nananalo ang Ginebra

This team really rocks!!! Ang sarap balikan ng old bgk moments

The Living Legend!

 Pag Nananalo ang Ginebra
Sung by Bayang Barrios

Sinusundan ko ang bawat laro
Ng koponan kong naghihingalo
Sa bawat bolang binibitaw
Di mapigilang mapapasigaw
Kahit hindi relihiyoso
Naaalala ko ang mga santo
O San Miguel, Santa Lucia
Sana manalo ang Ginebra

Ngunit ang aga nilang nagkalat
Bawat diskarte nasisisilat
Nagkasundo kaming magkakampi
Na ang labo kasi ng referee
The Sky Scraper
Ang barangay parang napeste
Natambakan agad kami ng bente
Parang bansa'y nagkaleche-leche
At nareelect ang presidente

Pagbigyan nyo na ako
Paminsan-minsan lang ito
Gumaang ang nabibigatang puso
Pagbigyan nyo na ako
Sa munting hilig kong ito
Kung hindi baka mag-away pa tayo

Nang 2nd half ay nag-umpisa
Nag-umpisa ang ratsada nila
Ipit na pukol ni Noli Locsin
Jayvee Gayoso
Kahit finoul, pasok pa rin
Ang double-team nila'y walang epekto
Sa alee hoop at alahoy ni Marlou
Sunod-sunod sa magkabilang kanto
3 points ni Hizon at Jarencio

Opensa ay nasasaling
Sa hustle ni Mackie at Benny Cheng
Halos ang bola ay di makatawid
Sa mga nakaw ni Flash David

Ang execution ay swabeng-swabe
Sa mga plays ni Coach Jaworski
Biglang umugong ang buong palibot
The Flash

Travie McCoy: Billionaire ft. Bruno Mars [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Billionaire So Frickin Bad

Billionaire by Travie Mccoy Feat. Bruno Mars

[Bruno Mars]
I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

[Chorus]

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I’m a billionaire

[Travis "Travie" McCoy]
Yeah I would have a show like Oprah
I would be the host of, everyday Christmas
Give Travie a wish list
I’d probably pull an Angelina and Brad Pitt
And adopt a bunch of babies that ain’t never had sh-t
Give away a few Mercedes like here lady have this
And last but not least grant somebody their last wish
Its been a couple months since I’ve single so
You can call me Travie Claus minus the Ho Ho
Get it, hehe, I’d probably visit where Katrina hit
And damn sure do a lot more than FEMA did
Yeah can’t forget about me stupid
Everywhere I go Imma have my own theme music

[Chorus]

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I’m a billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I’m a Billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I’m a Billionaire

[Travis "Travie" McCoy]
I’ll be playing basketball with the President
Dunking on his delegates
Then I’ll compliment him on his political etiquette
Toss a couple milli in the air just for the heck of it
But keep the fives, twentys (?) completely separate
And yeah I’ll be in a whole new tax bracket
We in recession but let me take a crack at it
I’ll probably take whatevers left and just split it up
So everybody that I love can have a couple bucks
And not a single tummy around me would know what hungry was
Eating good sleeping soundly
I know we all have a similar dream
Go in your pocket pull out your wallet
And put it in the air and sing

[Bruno Mars]
I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

I wanna be a billionaire so frickin bad!

Just posted it because the day is not complete in our office if this song isn't played... Well positive.., maybe we can be a billionaire so frickin bad!

Maskman: My Favorite Childhood Superhero

Maskman The Movie

Watch Maskman The Movie Subbed in Entertainment  |  View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com

Hikari Sentai Maskman is one of the Super Sentai Installment of Toei Company, it was aired in TV Asahi in a year 1987 to 1988 with 51 episodes.

During 90's it was aired here in Philippines and I think I was 5 then that's why I was hooked in. :) The group is composed of 5 young individuals who was recruited by Chief Sugata to fight the underground tube empire headed by Emperor Zeba.

Main Characters:

Takeru- (Red Mask) Leader of the group, he is known as Michael Joe here in the Philippines.
Weapons: Masky Blade
Attacks: Laser Arrow
Meditation Gesture: (Opened hands with index finger and thumb together), which signifies control over natural forces

Kenta- (Black Mask) He is the second in command, known as Leonard.
Weapons: Masky Rod
Meditation Gesture: (all fingers enlaced in a fist), which signifies the guessing of others' thoughts and intentions.

Akira- (Blue Mask) The youngest from the group, a swordsman, he is known as Adrian in our country.
Weapons: Masky Tonfas
Meditation Gestures: (two fists together with index finger from right hand sticking out), which signifies dominion over time and space.

Haruka- (Yellow Mask) Raised in the family of ninja, also known as Eloisa.
Weapons: Masky Rotor
Attacks: Yellow Mask Shadow Clone aka Kage Bunshin
Meditation Gestures: (All fingers together in a fist except ring and pinkie), which signifies harmony with the Universe.

Momoko- (Pink Mask) Tai Chi Chuan Expert, known as Mary Rose in the Philippines.
Weapons: Masky Ribbon
Meditation Gestures: (All fingers together in a fist except index fingers), which signifies self-healing.

Alliances:

Commander Sanjuro Sugata aka Chief Samuel Sugata- A scientist and a martial artist who established the Maskman team to prevent the invasion of Underground Tube Empire.

Dr. Azuma and Dr. Catherine- Assistants of Chief Sugata.

Princess Iyarl/Miyo- known as Rio in the Philippines, Takeru's girl without knowing that she is the twin sister of Prince Igam from the Tube Empire.

Ryo Asuka aka X1 Mask- Former Maskman who refused to continue his duty after his love one was killed by the Tube.

Villains:

Emperor Zeba- The leader of the Underground Tube Empire, on the later story it was revealed the he is also the 2nd Lethal Doggler.

Prince Igam- Leader of the Igam Clan, On episode 45 she will be revealed as a woman, she will become a nun on the last episode.

Fumin- From a Fu clan, a group of Ninja who serves the Igam clan.

Baraba- A rival of Igam from Baluga tribe, he carries the Royal Underground Sword.

Oyobu- He serves under Baraba, a ninja from Buyon with red skin and pointy ears.

Anagmas- Zeba's advisor, he uses croquet mallet as his weapon.

Okerampa- It enlarges the dogglers after Maskman defeated them with either Shot Bomber or Jet Cannon.

Knight Thief Kiros- Rival of Takeru in Miyo's heart, known fo his crescent screw attack as he learned it when he survived from the wind of hell.

Each of the members has a Masking brace, Maskman's transformation device. They use to say Aura Mask when they Transform. Shot bomber is their finishing cannon which was destroyed by Kiros using his crescent screw. They replaced it with Jet Cannon, with Red Mask at the back using his Aura for the attack.
After Okerampa enlarged the Dogglers, Red Mask called the turbo ranger which they use to fight the enlarged doggler. Before, Turbo Ranger has only Great Five Robot within, until one time the Great Five Robot was sink underground and the group need to replace it. Then they found the Land Galaxy which transforms into Galaxy Robot.

I'm just wondering what happened to them after 20 years. Ive heard that Takeru is already married with a Filipina (I think she is one of the Batang 80's and 90's hehe). Kenta is a Politician and Akira is a martial arts instructor.

Well wherever they are I'm just very thankful because they become part of my childhood life. Actually when I was a kid, my dream is to become one of them, to become a Maskman hahaha. Well we can be super heroes in our own way. Fight for love and peace as what Maskman did.

By the time that the dabarkads has a moment of silence (prayer for the late Fernando Poe Jr.) He use to shout the "seem less na" thing until he realize that the group is still praying for the late FPJ.

A lot of his songs inspired the Filipinos because of it's nationalistic approach. Blue Eagles for Possible Three Peat?

Now that Ateneo takes the game 1 of the finals, is it possible for them to make it in three championship in a row? As the game goes on yesterday it looks like Blue Eagles is more determined to win the series. As per Mico Halili on his Twitter account, "That's not the FEU team that finished #1 in elims, but the problem is, this isn't elims anymore.

Playing solid the entire game as the blue eagles beat the number 1 team in elimination FEU Tamaraws, 72-49 inch closer to grab the three peat in UAAP men's basketball tournament. “This is probably our best game of the year but hopefully, we play better on Thursday,” said Black.

The stats shows blue eagles dominance against Tams (29-of-61 for 47.5 percent), also they dominate the boards not a usual thing if they are up against FEU specially now that Escueta is suspended.

Game 2 would be on Thursday, expecting more action specially on the part of FEU who doesn't want to end up the series and forced a do or die game 3.

Miller-Baguio Trade

A blockbuster mid-season trade has been done by the Alaska Aces and Brgy. Ginebra Kings in the name of so called untouchable players Wilie Miller of Alaska and Cyrus Baguio of Ginebra.

There's a lot of negative reactions with this trade specially in the side of Gin Kings. They said that the Kings Doesn't really benefit with this trade since they have a lot of available guards. What they really need is a defensive player and the one who make a hassle plays specially during crunch time.

On the side of Alaska, they actually benefited on this trade. With the kind of play Cyrus has it a perfect combination of a running game with LA Tenorio.

Both coaches insisted that it is their player's wish to be traded. Jhong Uichico said Miller is welcome addition to their team but he wish it shouldn't be Cyrus Baguio. While Coach Tim Cone said it was Willie Miller who wanted to be traded two years ago until they found a perfect trade for Him.

Yesterday Ginebra lost against Alaska as Cyrus Baguio played an important role in the 4th Quarter wherein he scored 15 big points, while Willie Miller sat on the Bench. Well there's a lot of a team adjustment of Brgy. Ginebra since they have Rudy Hatfield back and a new import named Mildon Ambres. Let's just wait and see if there's any improvements in the next few games.

H-Bomb Strikes Back

At last Rudy hatfield ends up with his three-year leave with PBA and go back playing for Brgy. Ginebra Kings this coming Fiesta Conference in March 21.

After a heart breaking 4-0 sweep against Alaska Aces in the recent Philippine Cup Semifinals, Kings finally got it's lost piece of puzzle in the person of whom they called the "H-Bomb"

Bill Rosmarino, Hatfield's agent already confirmed that the H-bomb has signed a one-year contract for Brgy. ginebra Kings.

“Rudy is already preparing his body for battle,” said Rosmarino. “I’m just so excited. This has been nearly three years of waiting. It will be so nice to watch, as a Hatfield fan, the new improved 110 percent version. With his new mindset, rest and heart, you can only imagine what Rudy will do on the court for Ginebra.”

In an exclusive interview from Philippine Star, Hatfield vowed to return with a bang.

“Don’t think for one second I’m gonna walk on the floor and let anyone walk all over me,” he said. “I’m comin’ to play. I’m comin’ to wrestle. And I’m comin’ to win. There’s nothing new to expect. I don’t have any new moves. I haven’t been given some miraculous pill that has me flying out of the gym and I won’t suddenly become a pure shooter. What you will see is me diving on the floor again, running up and down like a caged animal that has just been let loose and 110 percent of tenacious intensity.””

“What an awesome time playing for Ginebra is going to be,” he continued. “I’ve been following the PBA since I left and I definitely know what’s going on. I remember telling Eric (Menk) about J. C. (Intal) while he was at Ateneo and saying, ‘Look at the hops on this guy.’ It looks as if he’s become more than just a leaper.”

Hatfield admitted that as of this moment he is not in his PBA condition after his three years of absence in the league.

“I plan on being ready,” he went on. “The good thing is I still weigh the same as when I left so I won’t have to worry about getting rid of extra weight. You know, if anything, I’ll be in shape. Maybe not as good right away but I’ll surely be able to get up and down the floor.”

In three years of absence, Hatfield spend his time with his family and missionary works.

“After about a year of researching, speaking with God, receiving so many signs and just putting myself out there to believe, I was finally saved,” he said. “My old life was put to death and I was reborn. I now truly believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that if we believe in His death for our sins, His resurrection as ourselves being resurrected into a new life and that He is the way, truth and the life. By all means, I still sin, I still make mistakes and I have a long, painful journey to go before I’m made into the perfect image of Jesus. But at least I know I can repent and be forgiven and I focus everyday on getting closer to God.”

As for how long he plans to play, Hatfield said it’s up to the Lord.

“Right now, the thought is to play until God tells me it’s time to move on,” he said. “I don’t know exactly how long it will be. But what I do know is for the last three years, I’ve been trying to find a purpose for my life, wondering what God made me for. For about three years, I tried to fool myself that I wasn’t made for basketball. I do know now that God gave me a gift and maybe I’m not the most talented basketball player but he gave me something that gets the job done.”

The Return of "Ube Republic"

"Ube Republic" is back in Philippine Basketball Association.

Unable to create more established group as Burger King Whoppers, Lina group of franchise decided to revert it's old name Air 21 Express starting this coming PBA Fiesta Conference on March 21, 2010.

Remembering it's first finals appearance in 2008 against the crowd favorite Brgy. Ginebra Kings, even though they lost in seven game series it's no doubt that Express gave the King the fight that they our looking for.

“Get ready for the return of the Ube Republic," said PBA Chairman and Air21 team manager Lito Alvarez, referring to the dominant color of the Air21 banner.

“We will try to re-live the success that we had with the Air21 name," said. “We’re very upbeat because the Express name has been synonymous with a fast, exciting team that never surrenders until the final buzzer. We can do that again."

As preparation for upcoming Fiesta Conference, they got the service of Leroy Hickerson as reinforcement. “With an explosive import and a return to our former name, the Express vow to deliver again for our legions of fans," Alvarez said.

Well let's see how it will work for Air 21 this upcoming conference.

Brgy Ginebra vs Alaska in 2010 PBA AFC Semi-finals

The series between Brgy. Ginebra Kings Alaska Aces is getting more exciting after Alaska lead the series in 2-0 win. The hero of the quarter finals Jc Intal is off night in the 2 succeeding games which is a big loss in the offensive strategy of the Kings. Aside from that, the team is also affected with the absence of Celino Cruz and Eric Menk who got their injury in game 1 of the series.
On a lighter side, it is good that Mark Caguioa slowly coming back on his shape after he scored 23 points in game 1

.
The Alaska Aces will try to sweep the series with the help of Willie Miller, LA Tenorio and Sonny Thoss who made a great harm with the Kings.

But as they always said, it takes 4 wins to be in the finals and the heart of this considered most popular team will never give up. Today February 14, 2010 is the game 3 of the finals, will Brgy. Ginebra finally got their first win in the series? or Alaska will make it three in a row?
